This bill makes it easier for people on Medicare to get heart and lung rehabilitation. It expands coverage for cardiac, intensive cardiac, and pulmonary rehab, and aims to speed up access to these services . It also lets more types of clinicians help: physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and clinical nurse specialists can run these programs in their offices, prepare and sign treatment plans, and prescribe exercise. Medicare’s rules are updated so these clinicians can prescribe exercise under both cardiac and pulmonary rehab benefits, and the allowed location is broadened from “a physician’s office” to “the office setting”.
