Referred to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
This bill tells the FAA, working with NASA and other experts, to study whether major U.S. airports are ready to handle very fast passenger planes, like supersonic and hypersonic aircraft. It notes these planes could cut long flight times, but many airports may not yet have the right runways, equipment, or rules to support them safely and efficiently.
The study must review runway length and strength, fueling and maintenance needs, air traffic control systems, and environmental rules such as noise and emissions. It also has to weigh possible economic benefits and challenges. Within one year of the law taking effect, the FAA must send Congress a report with results, suggested policy and infrastructure changes, cost estimates, and a timeline.
