Adds explicit patient visitation requirements to the Social Security Act so health care institutions that provide items or services must adopt written visitation policies, notify patients of their visitation rights and any clinical limits, allow patients to designate visitors (including spouse, family, or friend), and prohibit denying or restricting visits because of a person's protected characteristics. The amendment also adjusts internal numbering to accommodate the new paragraph.
Referred to the Committee on Ways and Means, and in addition to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
