Updated 2 hours ago
Last progress April 8, 2025 (10 months ago)
Withdraws a mapped parcel of federal land in the Pecos area from most forms of mineral development (while protecting valid existing rights) and establishes the Thompson Peak Wilderness Area — about 11,599 acres of Forest Service land in New Mexico — to be managed under the Wilderness Act while allowing existing grazing, recognizing State fish and wildlife authority, and permitting certain wildfire and pest‑control actions. The Secretary of Agriculture must file a map and legal description with Congress and manage the new wilderness consistent with wilderness law and the limited exceptions specified.
