Adds Medicare coverage for certain services when provided by a licensed pharmacist and meeting specified conditions, and requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to establish pharmacist-specific billing codes to enable payment. The change amends parts of the Social Security Act so Medicare will recognize and pay for eligible pharmacist-delivered services starting January 1, 2027.
This creates a new payment pathway for pharmacists to bill Medicare directly for defined services, increases access points for Medicare patients, and directs CMS to implement billing codes and related administrative changes to carry out the coverage expansion.
Read twice and referred to the Committee on Finance.
