Taxpayer Notification and Privacy Act
The bill improves taxpayer notice and privacy by requiring advance notice and response time before third‑party contacts but does so at the cost of added IRS administrative burden, possible enforcement delays, and exceptions that could blunt those protections.
Doug LaMalfa Federal Disaster Tax Relief Certainty Act
The bill expands and clarifies tax relief to give disaster and wildfire victims (including non-itemizers and some past-loss claimants) faster, larger tax benefits to aid recovery, at the cost of reduced federal revenue, added compliance complexity, and time-limited/uneven coverage that may leave some victims without relief.
Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025
The bill prioritizes exclusive, sex‑segregated athletic opportunities for cisgender girls and gives institutions clearer federal guidance, but it excludes transgender girls from girls' sports and creates legal, financial, and participation risks for schools and some students.
Taliban Rare Earth Minerals Sanctions Act
The bill strengthens U.S. tools to choke off Taliban-linked funding from Afghanistan's rare-earth sector but does so at the cost of greater legal exposure and compliance burdens for businesses and travel/immigration limits for individuals with ties to that sector.
Time of Service Act
The bill expands and restores Post‑9/11 GI Bill access for many veterans (improving educational opportunities and reducing some denials) while increasing VA program costs and creating short-term administrative work to apply the change retroactively.
Modern GI Bill Act
The bill lets Post‑9/11 veterans use GI Bill funds to directly pay down federal student loans (providing immediate, inflation‑protected relief), but doing so reduces tuition/fee assistance, is subject to caps that may leave residual debt, and requires administrative setup that could delay delivery.
Veterans Cannabis Use for Safe Healing Act
The bill helps veterans access and safely use state-legal cannabis without losing VA benefits and improves clinical guidance, but it creates legal ambiguity, privacy risks for veterans, and added operational demands for the VA.
