This act moves the VA’s Office of Survivors Assistance so it reports directly to the Office of the Secretary, instead of being placed elsewhere in the department. The goal is to give survivors of veterans a clearer path to help and stronger oversight at the top of the VA. Today, this office sits within the Pension and Fiduciary Service of the Veterans Benefits Administration, and this change would shift it to the Secretary’s office.
