Referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary.
This bill changes bankruptcy law so people can keep some firearms if they file for bankruptcy. It lets a person protect up to $3,000 total in one firearm or in multiple firearms from being taken to pay debts. It also aligns other parts of the law so these firearms are covered like other protected household items.
These changes start on the day the bill becomes law and only apply to bankruptcy cases filed after that date.
