Recognizes May as Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month by stating findings and purposes about the size, growth, history, and contributions of AANHPI communities and noting continuing problems with discrimination and hate crimes. The resolution is declaratory only: it contains no new requirements, authorizations, spending, or changes to law.
The resolution increases visibility and education about AANHPI history and anti-Asian hate but is largely symbolic and does not provide funding or direct services, leaving a trade-off between recognition and concrete assistance.
AANHPI communities and the general public gain greater public recognition and education about AANHPI history and contributions each May, as federal, state, and local institutions (including schools and museums) are encouraged to hold programs and commemorations.
AANHPI communities and local communities benefit from increased public awareness of anti-Asian hate and discrimination, which can support outreach, dialogue, and community-led prevention efforts.
AANHPI communities receive only symbolic recognition because the resolution creates no new services, programs, or funding, and it may raise expectations for policy action that are not met, potentially causing frustration.
