This bill would speed up certain immigration court cases. It tells the Justice Department to start removal cases quickly after a Notice to Appear is filed and served. If a noncitizen is convicted of a crime that makes them deportable, the case must start as fast as possible after the conviction. It also requires immigration courts to finish these cases within 15 days of starting them, even if other laws normally allow more time.
In short, it aims to move people through the removal process much faster, especially those with qualifying criminal convictions.
