Referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs, and in addition to the Committee on Education and Workforce, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
This measure honors Vietnam War veterans for their courage and sacrifice and says they were often treated unfairly when they came home. It asks the President to publicly recognize that mistreatment and issue a formal apology to veterans and their families. It also calls for better education so students and the public learn more accurately about what these veterans gave and how they were treated after the war . The resolution’s purpose is recognition and apology; it does not set new programs or funding. Its impact would be symbolic, but meaningful, especially for veterans and their loved ones who have waited decades for this kind of acknowledgment .
