This bill sets clear rules for phone systems that use AI voices or prerecorded messages. It would require these calls to say, in plain language, who is making the call and give a working phone number or address. It also says the calling system must free your phone line within five seconds after you hang up, so you can make another call right away. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) enforces these rules and can expand them to cover new technologies that send AI or prerecorded messages in the future. Overall, it aims to create technical and procedural standards for AI-generated voice systems so people know who’s calling and aren’t stuck on the line after they hang up.
