This bill aims to make healthier food easier to get on military bases. It tells the Department of Defense to check each service’s nutrition standards every two years and see if the food choices on base match those standards. The results must be posted on a public website. The first public report is due by December 1, 2026.
It also requires a public plan, due within 180 days of the law taking effect, to increase access to nutritious food on military installations. The plan should follow recommendations from a June 24, 2024 Government Accountability Office report and include a strategy to add healthier menu options at on-base food venues that are not paid for with regular government funds.
