This bill directs the CDC, working with the National Indian Health Board, to run the “Climate Ready Tribes” program. The program helps Tribal governments and health departments prepare for health problems made worse by climate change. It focuses on turning climate science into clear guidance, building simple tools to help leaders make decisions, and taking action to reduce climate-related health risks. It also shares helpful materials and alerts Tribes to funding and other opportunities .
It provides ongoing funding of $110 million per year starting in fiscal year 2026, and keeps that money dedicated to this work.
