This bill would make states share more details about any Medicaid money that goes to abortion providers. Each year, states that use federal Medicaid funds for items or services from an abortion provider must send a report to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and post it on a public state website. The report must list each payment amount, why it was paid, how that compares to past years, how many abortions the provider performed, the gestational age for each one, and the method used. HHS must also post a nationwide summary each year.
Current law already limits federal funding for abortions to cases of rape, incest, or when the woman’s life is in danger; states may use their own money for other cases. This bill focuses on reporting, not changing those limits.
