Access to Pediatric Technologies Act of 2025

This bill aims to help kids get needed medical devices by making sure Medicare’s doctor payment system sets a clear national payment amount for certain children’s technologies when a manufacturer asks, if none exists yet. The government must use available data (like claims, invoices, and time studies) to set the amount. This starts for care given on or after January 1, 2026.

To qualify, a device must be covered by Medicare, be FDA approved/cleared/authorized, have a temporary billing code for new or emerging technologies, and be mainly used for children or designed for safe use in kids. This bill does not require Medicare to cover a device; it only sets how payment would be set if it is covered.

• Who is affected: Children who need medical devices, their doctors and clinics, and device makers.
• What changes: Medicare will create national payment amounts through its yearly rulemaking when a manufacturer asks and no amount exists. Requests in by May 1 are handled that year; later requests are handled the next year.
