Introduced September 11, 2025 by Emanuel Cleaver · Last progress 5 months ago
Designates September 2025 as National Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Awareness Month and calls for activities to raise public understanding of PKD, encourage education, and support efforts to increase research into treatment and a cure. It describes PKD as a common genetic progressive disorder that affects many body systems, impacts roughly 600,000 people in the United States, can lead to kidney failure, and often causes emotional and caregiving challenges.
The resolution is a formal expression of support and encouragement: it urges people and organizations across the country to hold ceremonies and events to promote awareness and understanding. It does not create new programs, authorize spending, or impose requirements on state or local governments.
