Designates support for a National Post‑Traumatic Stress Awareness Month and a National Post‑Traumatic Stress Awareness Day and urges education, stigma reduction, and better access to diagnosis and treatment for post‑traumatic stress among U.S. service members, veterans, and their families. It calls on the Departments of Veterans Affairs and Defense, medical and military leaders, and the public to promote awareness of causes, symptoms, and treatment options and to help reduce barriers to care.
The resolution is symbolic and nonbinding: it encourages outreach, cultural change, and coordination but does not create new programs, appropriate funds, or impose new legal requirements.
Referred to the Committee on Armed Services, and in addition to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
