Read twice and referred to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions.
This bill aims to make it easier for college students to find help in a crisis. It requires schools that give out student ID cards to print phone numbers on the card for three resources: the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, the Crisis Text Line, and a campus mental health center or program. If a school doesn’t issue ID cards, it must post this contact info on its website. If one of the national hotlines changes or shuts down, the government can name a similar replacement to list instead .
These changes start one year after the bill becomes law, giving schools time to update cards and websites .
