Moab UMTRA Project Transition Act of 2025

This bill lets the Department of Energy give the Moab site land to Grand County, Utah, for free after cleanup reaches a level that makes transfer safe. The Department will decide when cleanup is far enough, working with regulators, and can place rules on how the land is used to protect people’s health and safety.

The federal government will keep any water rights it needs to finish and maintain cleanup work, including access to wells. The county cannot sell or give any of the land to private companies or nonprofits. The Department of Energy can add other terms to protect the United States’ interests.
