This bill, the Representing our Seniors at VA Act of 2025, adds a voice from state veterans homes to a key VA advisory group on elderly care. It requires the VA’s Geriatrics and Gerontology Advisory Committee to include one representative from the National Association of State Veterans Homes. The committee must also consult with that association on matters that involve it. The goal is to bring real-world nursing home experience into VA advice and planning for older veterans’ care .
What this could mean in practice: policies and recommendations for older veterans may better reflect the needs of state veterans homes, which provide long-term care and nursing services to many veterans. The added representative must hold a professional license in nursing home administration, ensuring practical expertise guides the committee’s work.
