Awards a Congressional Gold Medal to the American Red Cross Supplemental Recreation Activities Overseas (SRAO) volunteers, known as the “Donut Dollies,” for their honorable service during the Vietnam War. The Secretary of the Treasury will strike the medal and give it to the Smithsonian for display and research, with encouragement to make it widely available to the public and to expedite production.
Allows the U.S. Mint to sell bronze duplicates of the medal at prices that fully cover all costs. Classifies these medals as national medals and numismatic items, and uses the Mint’s Public Enterprise Fund to pay up‑front costs while depositing sale proceeds back into the Fund. No new ongoing programs or spending mandates are created.
Referred to the Committee on Financial Services, and in addition to the Committee on House Administration, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
