Educational Toy Tax Relief Act

This bill would stop the federal government from adding import taxes to many baby and kids’ toys and gear. It tells the President to remove any current import taxes on these items that were put in place using emergency economic powers, and says similar taxes put in place under other rules would not count either.

The items covered include products for children under three, tricycles, scooters, and pedal cars, playpens and play yards, baby swings, and educational toys for babies and children.

• What changes: Import taxes on the listed items would be removed and could not be added using emergency powers; similar taxes under other authorities would have no effect.
