This bill would create a relief program for logging and timber trucking businesses that lose income because of major disasters. The U.S. Department of Agriculture would run the program through the Farm Service Agency. If a business shows at least a 10% drop in gross revenue in a 30‑day period or a quarter, compared to the same time the year before, it could get help. The payment would equal 10% of the business’s gross revenue for that period, and it must be used only for operating costs like payroll, fuel, or equipment upkeep .
The department must set up rules within 30 days of the law taking effect, and it can move faster than usual by skipping some red tape. It also has to report each year on who got paid and how much. The plan authorizes $50 million per year from 2025 through 2029 to fund these payments .
