Referred to the Committee on Ways and Means, and in addition to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
This bill makes it easier for Medicare patients to get home health care when what they mainly need is help from an occupational therapist. Today, people often must also need nursing, physical therapy, or speech therapy to qualify. This change says a doctor’s order for occupational therapy at home can by itself open the door to Medicare-covered home health services.
If passed, the change would start for care provided on or after January 1, 2026.
