Calls for the United States to lead global nuclear disarmament by committing to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and working with all nuclear‑armed countries to verifiably and irreversibly eliminate their arsenals. Ratification is supported only if it results in actual dismantlement of all nuclear weapons under strict international controls.
After the President certifies to Congress that every nuclear‑armed nation has begun verified, irreversible elimination under the treaty, funds previously used for U.S. nuclear weapons programs must be shifted to: converting nuclear‑weapons industry sites to clean energy and retraining workers; meeting urgent human and infrastructure needs (health care, housing, education, agriculture, environmental restoration, long‑term radioactive waste monitoring); and advancing policies that encourage other countries to make the same commitments.
