Referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, and in addition to the Committee on Ways and Means, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
This bill updates Medicare rules so certain clinics that are not run by a physician can rely on physician assistants (PAs) or nurse practitioners (NPs) to deliver care, as long as they follow their state’s laws. It says these clinics must have an agreement with one or more PAs or NPs, and the way they practice and are overseen will be based on state rules, not extra federal requirements. This is meant to make it easier for clinics to staff and serve patients, especially in places with fewer doctors.
