This bill would stop Medicaid from paying for “conversion therapy.” It defines conversion therapy as any paid practice that tries to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity, including attempts to change behavior or feelings. Supportive counseling and help for someone who is transitioning are not blocked, as long as they do not try to change a person’s orientation or gender identity.

The change would start on the first day of the first calendar quarter after the bill becomes law.
