Enables and clarifies federal support to include Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander history in K–12 education by inserting related language into ESEA and NAEP authorization statutes.
Official title: To authorize the Secretary of Education to award grants to eligible entities to carry out educational programs that include the history of peoples of Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander descent in the settling and founding of America, the social, economic, and political environments that led to the development of discriminatory laws targeting Asians, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders and their relation to current events, and the impact and contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders to the development and enhancement of American life, United States history, literature, the economy, politics, body of laws, and culture, and for other purposes.

The bill clarifies and encourages inclusion of AANHPI histories in K–12 education—improving representation and reducing ambiguity for educators—but could create costs, compliance uncertainty, and local political disputes over curriculum and federal involvement.
K–12 teachers and schools gain clearer, updated statutory language and federally supported museum resources to teach more accurate AANHPI history, reducing ambiguity for educators and improving classroom content for students.
Acknowledging historical injustices and highlighting Pacific Islander and Native Hawaiian histories increases visibility of territorial residents and may strengthen public awareness and support for remedial policies or greater inclusion in federal programs.
Students—particularly AANHPI youth—are likely to benefit from curricula that better reflect their histories, improving educational relevance and potentially civic understanding.
Insertion of unspecified statutory text creates uncertainty and could impose new compliance requirements or administrative burdens on state and local education agencies and schools.
Updating curricula, textbooks, and teacher training to reflect the new emphases may require additional state and local education spending, increasing costs for school districts and taxpayers.
Emphasis on particular historical topics and federal encouragement of curriculum changes may provoke local political disputes and perceptions of federal overreach, leading to contentious school board battles that disrupt classrooms.
Based on analysis of 3 sections of legislative text.
Adds support for teaching accurate histories of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI) in K–12 education and makes technical insertions into existing ESEA and NAEP authorization statutes to incorporate that support. It states findings about historical contributions and harms affecting AANHPI communities and directs minor statutory insertions (conforming/technical edits) into several education law provisions so federal education programs and assessments can explicitly accommodate AANHPI history-related activities. The bill is short and narrowly focused on education content and statutory adjustments; it appears procedural in its edits to ESEA and the NAEP Authorization Act and does not itself create large new spending, tax, or national security provisions in the text provided.
