This measure expresses support for public K–12 schools and says the federal Department of Education is important to our education system. It opposes taking public school money and sending it to privately run K–12 schools, such as through vouchers . It also condemns efforts to defund public education or weaken or dismantle the Department of Education .
It rejects claims that the executive branch can shut down or move the Department of Education, cut federal education funding, block federal education grants, or shift federal education costs onto states and local districts .
Referred to the House Committee on Education and Workforce.
